Mmm. Cucumbers. Whether dipped in buttermilk ranch, diced up in a summer salad, or infused in a cool crisp cocktail, there is nothing quite like the light, refreshing taste of cucumber in the summertime.
Not only are they a delicious snack, cucumbers also have a variety of benefits for boosting overall health and are often referred to as a superfood. Cucumbers are 95% water, making it a low-calorie snack ideal for eliminating toxins and rehydrating the body. The high water content and dietary fiber in cucumbers are quite effective in flushing toxins from the digestive system, aiding digestion and supporting weight loss. Cucumbers are also packed with essential daily nutrients including vitamin A, B1, B6, C & D, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, Silica and Potassium which work to regulate blood pressure, promote joint health, relieve gout and arthritis pain, reduce the risk of cancer, and can (in some cases) help cure diabetes.
While cucumbers are good for the body, cucumber cocktails are equally as good for the soul. Try mixing up this refreshing Cucumber Ginger Gimlet for a few guests at your next soiree.
