One of our favorite Texas summer past times is enjoying refreshing cocktails and amazing food with friends and family – what can we say, it’s a part of our southern roots! Whether you prefer the taste of a local Texas draft beer or a refreshing summer spritzer, there’s nothing like getting lost in good conversation with a cocktail in-hand. That being said, we’re thrilled to announce the opening of our new bar at Travaasa Austin!
The beautifully constructed new bar was made using all-natural materials including stone and a variety of hardwood. The bar’s curved backdrop is suggestive of a wine barrel and is actually made of reclaimed long leaf pine. Because the bar was designed to be an experience area, the fresh fruit and herbs found on the “living wall” provide the materials for Travaasa’s mixology classes and fresh cocktails. The ambiance of the new space reflects Austin’s traditional rustic charm, inviting guests to pull up a bar stool and unwind with a selection from our elaborate new drink menu developed by sommelier Edward Morgan and mixologist Shawn Lejun.
For a taste of what we’re mixing up in Austin this summer, try this recipe for a refreshing tequila twist:
Flor de Tejas
- 1 1/2 oz Dulce Vida Tequila
- 1/2 oz St-Germaine Elderflower Liqueur
- 1/2 oz fresh squeezed Texas grapefruit juice
- 1 3/4 oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Combine ingredients in a tin shaker with ice and stir 10-15 times. Pour into a chilled martini glass, garnish with a grapefruit wedge and enjoy!
